I built a radar tool for agencies. Here's why.
Welcome to issue #005 of my Field Notes. Every 2 weeks, I share a post, product or tool that's been working to grow agency businesses 'in-the-field'. That way, you can test and try things out for your own agency's growth. If you need support on your creative operator journey, I can help. Or consider upgrading to paid for monthly workshops, discounts on my tools & training, and private group calls.
A while ago, I had that sinking feeling.
You know the one - when you realise something’s off in your business, but you only catch it after it’s already hurt you?
You lose a client. Team energy drops. Your pipeline dries up. But it all looked fine a few weeks ago.
So you go into reflection mode.
What happened?
What did I miss?
What would I do differently next time?
And that’s the thing - next time is great in theory. But what if the first time is the one that knocks you flat?
Not every agency can afford a warm-up disaster.
That got me thinking...
Big ships have radar. They scan the path ahead for icebergs. They don’t wait to hit something before they react.
So I asked: What would a radar for agencies look like?
Something simple.
Something that shows you where your risks are hiding
(before they cause damage).
So I built one.
Locked myself in a room for a week. Started prototyping.
The result?
The Agency Radar. A quick, free tool (Google Sheet) you can copy, fill in, and see where confidence in your agency is low.
It shows you the areas that might already be wobbling (even if nothing’s broken yet).
It’s not fancy. It won’t replace your business model.
But it might buy you time to steer before things get rough.
If you're an agency owner, SLT member or creative operator - give it a go - here’s the link:
👉 [Find your agency’s icebergs here]
(It’s free. You just make a copy & fill your scores in)
And if you try it, I’d love to hear how it lands.
